NEW The Balm Nude Dude Palette: Review & Swatches

I was recently looking at Nouveau Cheap's blog (If you're not already following her blog, you definitely need to!!  Hers is one of my very favorites!) and read about a new palette from The Balm - the Nude Dude! This one is a spin off of the original Nude 'tude palette, only it has pictures of boys in towels with the eyeshadows placed over them. Too funny! As of right now, this palette has only been released at Kohl's as an exclusive pre-release. I'm not sure when it will be available other places. It cost $39.50 and comes with 9.6 grams of shadow (the Nude 'tude has 11.08 grams of shadow) and a full Body Builder Mascara.

The packaging has a cute, vintage vibe to it just like the first.

The shadows in the Nude Dude palette have a more pinky, coppery, burgundy feel to them, while the Nude 'tude shadows have more of a warm-toned brown feel to them.

They're all nicely pigmented. From initial swatching, the texture and feel of these shadows feel very similar to the Nude 'tude palette. The only shadow that took a little more work was Fine, but with a smidge more building, it ended up being a really pretty shade!
Left to right: Fearless, Flawless, Firm, Flirty, Friendly, Fierce

Left to right: Fabulous, Faithful, Fit, Feisty, Funny, Fine

Here are some comparison photos and swatches for you so you can see how the palettes compare.

Top row, left to right: (Nude 'tude) Sassy, Stubborn, Selfish, Sophisticated, Sexy, Serious, Snobby, Stand-offish, Sultry, Seductive, Silly, Sleek
Bottom row, left to right: (Nude Dude) Fearless, Flawless, Firm, Flirty, Friendly, Fierce, Fabulous, Faithful, Fit, Feisty, Funny, Fine

Keep a watch out on my YouTube channel for a review video on this palette once I've played around with it more and worn the shadows for a bit. On first impression, this seems like a really cute, fun palette. I love how they took the first palette and made a quirky, updated version.  And if you're curious, Mr. Fearless & Fabulous would be my pick of the group! ;-D

What do you think of the Nude Dude palette?

Benefit Cheeky Sweet Spot Box O' Blushes Review & Swatches!

Another fun blush palette for you guys today! At first I wasn't going to purchase this palette, because I own all of the products inside already, aside from Dandelion. But the more that I thought about it, I thought this would be a great blush palette for my freelance kit!  I'm already a huge fan of Benefit boxed blushes, so I knew I'd enjoy using this palette on clients.

The packaging is absolutely adorable on this palette. It has a very vintage feel to it. To me, it looks like it's straight out of the 1940's. I love it!!

The palette comes with 4 blushes and a bronzer that are 5 grams each or .17 oz each (Dandelion, Bella Bamba, Hoola, Coralista, & Rockateur blushes and Hoola bronzer), 1 blush that's 6 grams or .21 oz (Sugarbomb), a mini sized Watts Up cream highlight, and a cute, tiny brush. Just for comparison, a regular sized Benefit boxed blush is .25 oz and costs $28. This palette was only $36 and a $119 value! I picked mine up from Sephora.

And now for some swatches. Below are all of the swatches from the palette. Next I'll show you some comparison swatches with their permanent boxed blushes.

Left to right: Dandelion, Bella Bamba, Sugarbomb

Left to right: Hoola, Coralista, Rockateur

Below are the comparison swatches. I don't own Dandelion, so I won't be able to show you if/how this one differs, but all the others are shown below.
Left to right: Bella Bamba (palette), Bella Bamba (permanent)

Left to right: Sugarbomb (palette), Sugarbomb (permanent)

Left to right: Hoola (palette), Hoola (permanent)

Left to right: Coralista (palette), Coralista (permanent)

Left to right: Rockateur (palette), Rockateur (permanent)

Left to right: Watts Up (palette), Watts Up (permanent)

As you can see in the swatches, several of them differ, but I still love all of them! Even though some of the ones included in the palette are maybe slightly lighter, pinker, or more coral, I still think they're all beautiful and great quality.

I'm really happy with this palette and so glad I grabbed it for my kit. Are you eyeing this palette?

Too Faced Cat Eyes Palette: Review & Swatches!

Oh Too Faced and their packaging. It just sucks me in every time. And it was no different with the Too Faced Cat Eyes palette!  I think animal print is so cute, so this palette's packaging is right up my alley!

This palette is $36, and I picked mine up at Sephora.

Here are some pictures of the packaging. Just take a moment and soak up the cuteness!

This palette has a very girly theme to it. The shadows inside are mostly very sweet, light and airy shades, with the row of darker (wet/dry shades) thrown in. (Incidentally, I think these worked well wet, but not particularly better than any other shade that you might decide to apply wet). I do wish it had a nice transition shade included though. That's definitely one thing that's missing from this palette.

All of the shades are nicely pigmented and swatch well, other than Kitty Glitter. It took a bit of building to get it to the pigmentation of the swatch below.
Left to right: Purr, Tiger's Eye, Leopard, Meow, Pussy Cat, Jungle Love, Kitten, Kitty Glitter, Panther

Overall, I think this palette is a fun one, and I'm glad I have it in my collection. I wouldn't say it's a total must-have though. You may already have similar shades in your collection. But if you're a fan of girly, sweet eyeshadow shades, this palette may be right up your alley. And if you love animal print, this may just be a must-have for you!

Tarte Pin Up Girl Blush Palette: Review & Swatches!

I am a big fan of Tarte blushes! After asking for their blushes for Christmas and birthday presents for a couple of years, I've built a nice little collection.

When I saw Tarte's holiday blush palette, the Pin Up Girl palette (part of the Sweet Dreams collection), it was love at first site (and swatch!) I didn't purchase last year's holiday blush palette. The plummy brown tones in that palette just didn't appeal to me at the time (This year I'm all about them, though!)

The packaging on this palette is absolutely adorable. It has a holiday feel, but also a sweet vintage vibe as well. It even comes with 2 vintage-inspired hair pins. Cute little added touch!

The value on this palette is great! The palette costs $42 but is valued at $110! It includes 5 blushes that are 4.5 grams each - close to a full-sized Tarte Amazonian Clay 12-hour blush! (A regular sized Tarte blush is 5.6 grams.) And FYI - this is a Sephora exclusive.

Shades left to right: Breathless, Embraced, Whimsy, Bashful, Irreplacable

The set includes 5 new, limited edition shades:
Breathless - pinky beige
Embraced - plummy rose
Whimsy - light pink
Bashful - rosy peach
Irreplaceable - mauve rose

All of the shades are beautifully pigmented, blend easily, and wear very well on the skin!

Shades left to right: Breathless, Embraced, Whimsy, Bashful, Irreplacable

While some of these appear to be very similar to shades in their permanent line, they're actually not all that close! Check out my YouTube channel for my video on this palette where I show comparison swatches of some of the permanent and other LE shades from the Tarte line!

I'm really, really enjoying this palette, and I'm so glad I grabbed it! Will you be picking up this palette?

Colourpop Super Shock Eyeshadows & Lippie Stix Haul & Swatches

I'm already a huge fan of Colourpop's Super Shock eyeshadows. So when I saw their fall collection, I knew I had to grab some!  In a nutshell, they're all amazing, once again! Gorgeous pigmentation, beautiful dimension, and fantastic wear time!

I grabbed 6 shadows this time, along with 3 of their new Lippie Stix.

Top row, left to right: So Quiche, Game Face, Bandit
Bottom row, left to right: Mooning, Mittens, Bae

The Lippie Stix are nice, but I'm not as in love with them as I am with the eyeshadows. They're matte and very pigmented. They just tug a bit and can tend to be a little drying. I do like them, but I'm not head over heels in love with them.
