Sephora + Pantone Universe Haul, Swatches, & Review

Every year, Sephora releases a collection of products featuring the Pantone Universe color of the year. This year, Pantone selected Marsala. I was all about this color when I heard their announcement! I think it's a perfect, trendy shade to represent 2015, since the 90's makeup look is so in right now.

I purchased the Facets of Marsala Multi-Finish Eye Palette, the Shimmering Marsala Cheek Trio, and Pure Marsala Matte Lip Creme. I'm also eyeing the multi stick too, but I'm trying to resist that one!

The packaging on all of these products is just stunning. It's a beautiful (but very fingerprint prone!) rose gold. Everything looks very high-end and luxurious. Even the lipstick has a magnetic closure. It doesn't even click closed; it just comes together magnetically. Magic! ;-D The eyeshadow palette is quite a bit smaller than last year's Radiant Orchid palette, which I actually like. This one will be much better for storage and traveling.

PURE MARSALA MATTE LIP CREME

All of the products swatch beautifully too!  There are a few shades in the eyeshadow palette that take a bit of building, but they seem to come together with a few swipes.

NEW Milani Color Statement Matte Lipsticks: Review & Swatches

Milani recently came out with new Color Statement lipsticks in all matte shades. I always get excited about new matte lipsticks, and I already love the Color Statement lipsticks from Milani, so these were right up my alley! I found these at my local Walgreens, and they were $5.79 each.

I picked up 7 of the 8 shades available. The only color I didn't get was Matte Passion, a very orange red shade.  These have the same packaging as the traditional Color Statement lipsticks from Milani, only these have a pleasant vanilla scent versus the watermelon scent of the original line.

Left to right: Matte Innocence, Matte Naked, Matte Blissful, Matte Diva, Matte Orchid, Matte Glam, Matte Confident

Left to right: Matte Innocence, Matte Naked, Matte Blissful, Matte Diva, Matte Orchid, Matte Glam, Matte Confident

The formula on these is nice. Most every shade is opaque and applies evenly. Matte Diva and Matte Glam were a bit patchy and needed some building, but they evened out fairly nicely. Matte Glam did stay a bit patchy in areas on the lips. With the lighter and brighter shades especially, you'll want to make sure your lips are exfoliated and moisturized, because they will tend to accentuate any dry patches. These are a comfortable matte lipstick formula and do not feel overly drying. They last a good amount of time on the lips as well.  They do start to feel a bit drier after they set and have been on the lips for a bit.

I really am enjoying these! Anytime there are more matte lipstick choices in the drugstore, I'm a happy girl! :) Keep a watch out on my YouTube channel where I'll have a review video with lip swatches!

New Rimmel Kate Lipstick Shades!

Recently, Rimmel came out with a few new shades in their Kate line. I was lucky enough to find a brand new, untouched display at my local Walgreens. There were 5 shades in the display and they each rang up for $5.79.

I grabbed 4 of the 5 shades. The only color I didn't get was #30 which was a red. I do enjoy red lipsticks, but I just don't tend to grab for them as much as other colors.  The packaging on these is the same as the other Rimmel Kate lipsticks. And these have the same plasticky, sort of fake fruit smell as the other lipsticks in this line.

I love all of the shades I picked up! They're all nicely pigmented and are a gorgeous creme finish. I've already worn #29 and thought that it wore well. It wasn't the longest wearing lipstick, but these don't make that claim. It wore for several hours on the lips, about the same amount of time as other creme formula lipsticks.

NEW Too Faced Semi-Sweet Chocolate Bar Palette: Review & Swatches

If you follow my YouTube channel  then you know my love affair with the Too Faced Chocolate Bar palette! It's been one of my favorites palettes in my collection since I got it around this time last year. So when I heard that Too Faced was coming out with a second edition, I was so excited!

I ordered this palette for $49 off of the Sephora website. At the time I ordered it, it was only available to VIBs and VIB Rouges. It should be available to everyone on Sephora's website soon.

The packaging on this one is similar to the original Chocolate Bar palette, only a more milky, lighter, more orange color. And the width on this palette seems to be the same as the first Chocolate Bar palette after they made the packaging thinner. I have the thicker version that was first released.

This palette has a warmer theme to it than the first. I would've guessed that they'd want to create a more cool-toned palette, but they opted for an even warmer version of the already semi-warm Chocolate Bar palette.

Most of the shadows swatch pretty nicely, aside from a couple of poorer performing shades in the palette, like Pink Sugar (very glittery with little pigmentation) and Nougat (which took a lot of of building). My favorite shade from the palette is Peanut Butter. I think it'd be a perfect warm transition shade!

Left to right: Licorice, Coconut Creme, Nougat, Truffled, Hot Fudge

Left to right: Cocoa Chili, Pink Sugar, Puddin', Blueberry Swirl, Peanut Butter, Frosting

Left to right: Rum Raisin, Mousse, Caramel, Bon Bon, Butter Pecan

Overall, I like this palette, but it's not love at first sight for me like it was with the original Chocolate Bar palette. I think I will enjoy using it, but I don't think I'll be reaching for it as much as I do the original. Keep an eye out on my YouTube channel for a full review once I've tried these shadows on my eyes for several days.

NEW Physician's Formula Extreme Shimmer Products!

Glitter. Shimmer. Glitz. Glam. If any of these words describe what you look for in makeup, then you're going to love the new products from Physician's Formula!  They now have new Extreme Shimmer versions of their Shimmer Strips Shadow & Liner palettes, and they've also come out with new Gel Cream Shadow & Liner Trios!

I love, love shimmer, so I was thrilled to see that these were coming out! I found one very-picked-over display at Ulta, and then a brand new, untouched display (pretty much the best thing ever!) at CVS.

The packaging on these is so cute. It's glittery and gaudy, and I love it! :)

And now for some swatches. I was surprised that the Shimmery Nude Eyes Shadow & Liner palette was a little disappointing when swatched. Some of the lighter shades in this particular palette are mostly shimmer with a pretty sheer background. Buuuuut, layered over the cream shadows, these perform beautifully! They just really need a good sticky base to cling to. When they've got that, their pigmentation is amazing and very pigmented and opaque.  All of the other items in this collection swatch really beautifully and also look gorgeous and shimmery on the eyes!

I think these are all a lot of fun. I can't wait to play around with them more and try out different combinations of shades! Keep an eye out on my YouTube channel for a review video where you can see what these shadows look like on my eyes!

NEW Maybelline Rebel Bloom Collection!

I LOVE Maybelline lipsticks! They're probably my very favorite lipsticks from the drugstore. And they came out with a new collection in the line recently, the Rebel Bloom collection. I was so excited when I heard about it. And when I tracked down the display at CVS recently, I practically squealed in the store!

The idea of this collection are pastels that are a little different. "Now it's time for pastels to rebel" is the tag line... And maybe it's the idea that these pastels are a bit brighter than your run-of-the-mill pastels?

I picked up 5 of the colors. Some of the pinks looked like shades I probably already have in my collection...or very similar colors. Here are the shades I grabbed:

Left to right: 700 Barely Bloomed, 705 Blushing Bud, 725 Lilac Flush, 730 Orchid Ecstasy, 745 Peach Poppy

And now for swatches! These are all beautifully pigmented, creamy, and comfortable! I love all of the shades I picked up!
Left to right: 700 Barely Bloomed, 705 Blushing Bud, 725 Lilac Flush, 730 Orchid Ecstasy, 745 Peach Poppy

The scent is consistent with usual Maybelline lipsticks. That scent used to really bother me, but now it doesn't bug me at all. I just love the Color Sensational line from Maybelline, so I'm always thrilled when they come out with new shades!
