BH Cosmetics Party Girl After Hours Palette - Swatches & Review

BH Cosmetics is one of those companies that ALWAYS has a sale going on! So recently I placed an order for some of their lipsticks, and with a coupon code, I received the BH Party Girl After Hours palette for free (plus free shipping)! So I thought I'd do a little swatch-and-review-ero for you!

The price of this palette varies, but it's usually around $10 or so, and it can be purchased on BH Cosmetics' website

The packaging is cute and functional. It's cardboard and not super high quality, but it gets the job done and it's sleek and compact, which I like.

BH Cosmetics Party Girl After Hours Palette

The collection of colors in this palette is kind of a hodge-podge. You get neutrals but also lots of colorful and smokey shades as well.  You have lots of options as far as looks go with this palette. And there is an assortment of shimmery shades and mattes.

BH Cosmetics Party Girl After Hours Palette

Now for the quality...It's pretty hit and miss.  As you can see from the swatches below, some of the shadows are nice, but many are powdery and not super pigmented.  The standouts, in my opinion, are definitely the four diamond shades in the bottom middle section of the palette. These shades, which being crazy glittery, are still very pigmented and have a nice texture that seems to builds on itself nicely.  (The texture reminds me a lot of Sleek shadows!)

So overall, I wouldn't recommend going out and purchasing this palette on it's own.  While it's only $10 and there are some decent shades in the palette, it's overall not amazing. But if you can get it as part of a great sale or deal on BH's website, you might as well go for it!

Prestige Cosmetics Total Intensity Total Wear Lip Crayon - Swatches & Review

Prestige Cosmetics is a brand I've always been intrigued by at Ulta.  They don't seem to get as much buzz as many other drugstore brands, but they really have some neat products.

They recently sent me a package of goodies to try out, and I've really been enjoying the products! Two of my favorites from the bunch are the Total Intensity Lip Crayons in U Red My Mind and Berry With Me. These retail for $9.49 and can be purchased on Ulta's website or in stores.

The packaging is really nice and sleek. It's your typical lip crayon type packaging, but these are a nice chic black color with the lip crayon's shade on the top and bottom.

Left to right: Total Intensity Total Wear Lip Crayon in Berry With Me & U Red My Mind

Both of these swatch beautifully! Berry With Me is a pinky red shade, and U Red My Mind is a gorgeous classic, pinup red shade.  They're both a cream formula, provide great pigmentation, and leave a stain behind while still being very comfortable on the lips.

I'm really enjoying these lip crayons, and I definitely want to pick up more shades...like maybe Bare It All, which looks like a great everyday neutral!

Have you tried the Total Intensity Total Wear Lip Crayons? If so, what do you think about them, and which are your favorite shades?

Too Faced LE Stardust Palette by Vegas Nay: Swatches & Review

Too Faced is by far one of my favorite higher end makeup brands. Their branding and packaging alone sucks me in every time (Chocolate Bar palettes. *wink wink* )

I was so excited and grateful when I saw the limited edition Stardust Palette by Vegas Nay arrive in my mailbox! I couldn't wait to dive in to this palette! If you happen to not know who Vegas Nay is, she's an incredibly talented Instagrammer who posts fabulous looks! So it's exciting to see her partnering with Too Faced on this palette!

The Stardust palette retails for $45 and will be available for purchase online on Ulta and Too Faced's websites on August 23rd, and then in Ulta stores starting September 6th.

Starting with the packaging - In true Too Faced style, the packaging is again...adorable! It's pink, it's girly, it's fun. I love it! The outside box is a bit bulky, but it's because it comes with two separate sides as you'll see in the pictures below. It has a nice magnetic closure on the outside cardboard packaging, which is a nice added touch.  One side contains a glitter pigment, deluxe size samples of the Better Than Sex Mascara and Shadow Insurance, and also some look cards from Vegas Nay.

I love the collection of colors included in this palette. There are lots of neutrals for creating really beautiful everyday looks, but there are also some girly, fun shades like light pinks and a beautiful purple. Everything you need to create a complete eye look is included in this palette - a browbone highlight shade, blending shades, lid shades, and darker colors to deepen up your outer corner. So no need to go grab other shades for a complete eye look!

All of the shadows are nicely pigmented.  A few of the shades (Girl's Night, Double Tap, and Sin City) seem to have a slightly grittier texture to them, but I noticed that after using Double Tap, it became more buttery.  So I'm guessing as I use the other two shades more, they will do the same.  But I've used each of these shades on my eyes, and they still build nicely and blend well.

Swatches left to right: Chandelier, Millennial, Girl's Night, Selfie, Showgirl, Jackpot

Swatches left to right: Pink Pearl, The Strip, Follow Me, Double Tap, Golden Nugget, Sin City

I'm really enjoying this palette! It's another win from Too Faced in my opinion!

New Sleek Enchanted Forest Palette - Swatches & Review

Sleek Makeup is a brand that doesn't get enough attention in the YouTube world.  (It does seem to have more of a presence on blogs though, which I'm glad to see!)

They recently released their Enchanted Forest Palette, so I jumped on it the first day it released. It came in the mail the other day, and yeah...I love it.  It's perfect for fall, just like I was hoping!

It retails for $11.99 and can be purchased on Sleek's website. (And side note: Their shipping to the US is very reasonable if you don't track it, which I usually don't, since I'm typically placing smaller orders.)

The packaging on this palette is the same as their others.  It's very basic, but it feels sturdy enough, and it's functional with a nice mirror inside, so I think it's just fine for the price!

Sleek Enchanted Forest Palette

Enchanted Forest is a beautiful collection of jewel-toned shadows. It has 4 mattes and 8 shimmers/metallics.  The only thing I think is missing is a nice blending/transition shade.  Beatrice could work, but I do still wish there were one nice, warm, medium brown shade.

Sleek Enchanted Forest Palette

Sleek Enchanted Forest Palette:

Top row, left to right: Glass Slipper, Beatrice, Perla, Fairy Godmother, Grand Duke, Drizella

Bottom row, left to right: Pumpkin, Prince Charming, Happily Ever After, Anastasia, Daphne, Lady Tremaine

As you can see from the swatches below, these shadows swatch beautifully! The only shade I had a little trouble with was Anastasia, which was a little patchy and took some building. But with a few swipes, it built up nicely.

Swatches left to right: Glass Slipper, Beatrice, Perla, Fairy Godmother, Grand Duke, Drizella

Swatches left to right: Pumpkin, Prince Charming, Happily Ever After, Anastasia, Daphne, Lady Tremaine

Favorites from the palette would have to be Pumpkin, a warm, orangey gold, and Daphne (A beautiful silvery forest green. What?! Amazing!!) I can't wait to wear this palette. If you're looking for a great palette for the fall that contains both neutrals and also some beautiful colorful shades, look no further than the Enchanted Forest palette!

My Kat Von D Everlasting Liquid Lipstick Collection - Swatches!

The Kat Von D Everlasting Liquid Lipsticks are some of my favorites out there.  While they're still a liquid lipstick...aka VERY matte and pretty drying...these aren't quite as drying as some other formulas.  And they're crazy long wearing! I have 6 of the shades in the line, so I wanted to share my little collection and show you some swatches!

Kat Von D's makeup line is exclusive to Sephora, so you can pick these up on their website or in stores.  They retail for $20 each.

The packaging on these is just like KVD's other products. They have a very edgy, artsy vibe to them. And these have a very slim packaging compared to some other liquid lipsticks, which is fun and different!

Left to right: Double Dare, Lolita, Lovesick, Mother, Ayesha, Exorcism

As you can see from the swatches below, these are all nicely pigmented and have nice, even coverage. But like with all liquid lipsticks, it's always a good idea to try your best to get your application correct on the first pass.  When you start building up liquid lipsticks, things can tend to get a little weird (aka patchy and a little sticky).

Swatches left to right: Double Dare, Lolita, Lovesick, Mother, Ayesha, Exorcism

My favorites from the group are definitely Lolita, Lovesick, Mother, and Exorcism (minus the creepy name on that one.) I'd recommend any of them in the line, though!

NEW Kat Von D Studded Kiss Lipstick Shades - Swatches & Review!

I am a HUGE fan of the Kat Von D Studded Kiss Lipsticks.  They're one of the toughest lipsticks for me to resist buying in every shade! So when Kat Von D released new shades, I had to pick up a few!

When my order came in the mail, two of them came damaged, unfortunately. :(  (Edit to add: Sephora is sending me replacements. This was my first time using the VIB Rouge Concierge service and it was great!) But I wanted to go ahead and swatch them so you could all see the shades!

The Kat Von D Studded Kiss Lipsticks are exclusive to Sephora and can be purchased on their website or in stores. They're $21 each.

I chose the shades Magick, Chula, and Mercy.  The packaging is the same as the other Studded Kiss Lipsticks - aka so edgy and funky fun. I love the studded design!

Left to right: Magick, Chula, Mercy

Magick is described as a sweet dusty pink. This one turned out to be a little darker and less cool-toned than I expected.  I love it though! It's just as the name describes - a dusty pink.  It also has some silver micro shimmer that give it something special.  But it's very finely milled, so the lipstick still feels creamy and comfortable.

Chula is described as a rich, warm sienna.  Hello fall! Love this shade.  It's a warm burnt orange/brick red type shade.  It reminds me of autumn leaves. Can't wait to wear this shade!

Mercy is described as a romantic, garnet berry.  This one is so gorgeous! It reminds me of a darker version of Wolvesmouth.  It has tiny pink micro shimmer in it.  It does feel a little bit gritty on the lips, but the color is so pretty and unique, I don't mind the texture being a little less creamy. But if you grab Mercy, be sure you're ok with shimmer in your lip products.

Swatches left to right: Magick, Chula, Mercy

I really really love all three of these. Kat Von D hit it out of the park again with these new shades. I'm eyeing a couple more already! ;-D

Buxom Big & Sexy Bold Gel Lipstick in Voodoo Spice: Review, Swatches, & Comparisons

Another new lippy at Sephora...coming your way! Just when I thought I was strong enough to resist Buxom's new releases with their eyeshadows, they had to go and release their Buxom Big & Sexy Bold Gel Lipsticks. And I was sunk.

Buxom Big & Sexy Bold Gel Lipstick in Voodoo Spice

These retail for $22 each and can be purchased on Sephora's website or in stores.

The packaging on these is beautiful.  Even the box is adorable.  Buxom has a very vintage, yet slightly pin up and sexy vibe to their line, and I love it! I chose a matte lipstick, since I'm a matte lipstick lover. They also have a satin finish in this line.  For the matte lipsticks, the bullets are a flat matte finish, while the satins have a sheen to them.  They have a magnetic closure to them, which bumps up the fanciness in my book! My only sliiiight qualm is that my semi OCD side has to perfectly line up the X when the 2 sides come together. Also, the bullet itself is wide, so it's a bit more difficult to get precise application with, versus a traditional lipstick bullet shape.

Buxom Big & Sexy Bold Gel Lipstick in Voodoo Spice

I chose Voodoo Spice, which is described as a matte deep blue red.  And I think that description matches it really well.  I picked it because fall is right around the corner (and hopefully fall temps too!), so I'm already lusting after those vampy lip shades!

Swatch: Buxom Big & Sexy Bold Gel Lipstick in Voodoo Spice

When I swatched it, it reminded me of Maybelline's Divine Wine, so I decided to do some comparisons between it and a few of my other Maybelline Creamy Mattes. Rich Ruby is no where close, so just pretend I didn't even swatch that one! ;) Divine Wine is definitely the closest.  It has maybe just a tinge more red in it than Voodoo Spice.  Burgundy Blush is definitely darker and has a bit more purple in it.

Swatches: Top - Buxom Big & Sexy Bold Gel Lipstick in Voodoo Spice; Bottom Row (left to right) - Maybelline Rich Ruby, Divine Wine, and Burgundy Blush

As far as the formula goes, it's soft and creamy and comfortable.  This lipstick gets a big thumbs up in my book.  I can't wait to rock this lipstick a lot in the fall! ...And maybe pick up a couple more shades from the line. ;)

NYX Avant Pop: Surreal My Heart Palette - Swatches & Review

NYX just keeps impressing me with their products recently.

My friend Sarah (PrimpPolishShine on YouTube) has been raving about the Avant Pop palette in Nouveau Chic.  But when I went to Ulta to pick that one up, they were sold out.  (Don't worry...I'm still eyeing that one, and when I find it in stock somewhere, I'll definitely pick it up and review it!) But they did have the Surreal My Heart Palette.

The packaging is standard for drugstore eyeshadow palettes. It's a thick, sturdy plastic, and it snaps shut tightly, so it's functional and nice quality. The palette retails for $16.99 regular price and can be purchased on Ulta's website or in stores.

NYX Avant Pop: Surreal My Heart

Surreal My Heart is a nice collection of neutrals and also fun colors as well.  The turquoise and blue really caught my eye but so did the yellow! That's just not a shade that you see a lot in palettes, especially ones from the drugstore.

NYX Avant Pop: Surreal My Heart

As far as pigmentation on these eyeshadows...WOW is all I can say! I was SO impressed, not only when I swatched these, but also when I wore them on my eyes. They are very opaque, blend beautifully, work together nicely, and wear really well on the eyes. The only complaint I would have is that they are a bit powdery, so they will kick up product in the pan, making your palette look a little messy and also causing some fall out.  I'd just advise tapping off your brush and maybe doing your eye makeup first.

Swatches NYX Avant Pop: Surreal My Heart, bottom row

I am absolutely in love with this palette. It's one of my biggest surprise favorites so far for 2015. I can't wait to track down Nouveau Chic....and maybe even Art Throb (the 3rd palette in this line)!

Essence All About Chocolates Palette: Swatches & 1st Impression

Every time I'm in Ulta, I have to peruse the Essence section, because I love affordable makeup.  And there's not a lot that's more exciting than finding a really fabulous lipstick that you love for $1.99!

I spotted the new All About Chocolates palette from them in the display. I've eyed other palettes in this line before but never picked any of them up. They're $4.99 each, and you can pick them up online at Ulta or in your local store.

The packaging on All About Chocolates is pretty "drugstore-ish." (Technical term there!) It's plastic and see-through, but it's sturdy and functional, so I'm happy with it.

Essence All About Chocolates

It's a neutral palette that's overall cool-toned, and if you're a fan of taupe, I think you'll really like this palette.

Essence All About Chocolates

The pigmentation on these is good, but not fantastic.  I did notice that a few of the shades, especially the lightest shade on the second row, seemed to have a top layer that I had to get through before there was much pigmentation at all.  But once you've gotten that top layer off, the pigmentation is pretty good.

Swatches left to right: top 3 shades, bottom 3 shades

I'm excited to play around with this palette on the eyes and see how it performs! Keep an eye out on my YouTube channel.  I'll give you guys an update there!

Bite Beauty Opal: Swatches & Review

There are SO many fun new things in Sephora right now!

Bite Beauty recently released the Limited Edition Frozen Berries collection (which I'm also loving) and then an Opal Lipstick and an Opal Lipgloss.  I decided to pick up the Opal Lipstick, because I just tend to be more of a lipstick girl than a gloss girl. The lipstick retails for $24 and can be purchased on Sephora's website or in your local store.

The packaging is the same as most Bite Beauty lipsticks. They almost have a futuristic look to them, which is kind of fun.  They're a rubbery texture, so they will tend to show dirt and makeup.

Bite Beauty Opal Lipstick

Bite Beauty Opal Lipstick

Opal is just as the name suggests, an opalescent colored lipstick.  It can be worn on its own for a light, pinky/purply look to the lips or layered over other lip products to change the look of them.

Bite Beauty Opal Lipstick

I'm really enjoying this unique lip product so far! I'm going to try out Opal with several of my other lip products (ala Barberry from the Frozen Berries collection!) and keep you guys posted on some of my favorite combos!
