New Hard Candy Fierce Effects Lipsticks - Newly Berried & Prowler: Swatches & Review

Another new Hard Candy product that I spotted at Walmart recently are the Fierce Effects Lipsticks. These retail for $5 each.

The first thing that stood out to me was the adorable packaging. I love the little rhinestone lids, and the tops display the color of the lipstick inside. These are a weighty feeling lipstick. They're not cheap and lightweight. The packaging is really impressive for a $5 lipstick!

I picked out the shades Newly Berried, a pinky purple shade, and Prowler, a vampy wine shade - perfect for fall!

These both swatch really nicely. Newly Berried was opaque and pretty close to even on the first coat.  Prowler took a little bit more building, I think because of the slightly shinier, lustre type finish.  But it builds up nicely, especially on the lips.  The texture on these is really nice.  They're creamy, comfortable, and hydrating. They don't have a super long wear time, but that's to be expected with a glossier, more hydrating formula.

My only complaint would be the lack of wearable neutrals in the range. There are some neutral colors, but I passed on them both because they looked to have an almost metallic finish to them. All in all, I'm impressed with these new lipsticks! The packaging alone sucks me in, and the formula is really nice!

Hard Candy Just Glow! Baked Illuminating Duo: Swatches & Review

I went into Walmart recently for something, and of course, found myself in the Hard Candy section, surrounded by several new releases! So I grabbed a few to review for you guys. ;)

First off, they've released some new Just Glow! Baked Illuminating Duos in Twinkle Star & Candle Lit. These retail for $8 at Walmart. First off, the packaging is a bit strange on these. It has two sizes to it which are connected by a middle section holding a little, (rather scratchy), brush. It almost reminds me of a pair of eyeglasses or something!

Now, let's get to the product. Oh the product... If you're looking at the swatches below, especially for Candle Lit and saying to yourself, "What am I looking at?" Yeah, I'm asking myself the same question. Twinkle Star is not very pigmented at all, but it contains lots and lots of glitter.  And then Candle Lit just doesn't have much pigmentation. My only thought is that maybe they were trying to create an Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder type feel with this one?  But if so, it really doesn't seem to hold the same impact as those, in my opinion. It doesn't show up on my skin, and I'm about a NC20, so most things will show up on me. And the texture is pretty chalky, sadly. :(

So all in all, I'm pretty disappointed in these.  I love Hard Candy's blushes and their other powder products, but these just fell short in comparison to those, in my opinion.

Too Faced Le Grand Chateau Limited Edition Christmas Collection: Swatches & Review

More Holiday cuteness from Too Faced! Today I have the Le Grand Chateau to show you.  This set retails for $49 and can be purchased from Sephora or Too Faced's website.

Holy goodness....if you are into cute packaging, you might possibly lose your mind over this set. It brings me back to being young and playing with Barbie's, Polly Pockets...any of it!

Too Faced Le Grand Chateau

The outside box itself is beautiful. And then you get to the adorable house inside. The roof comes off and the doors open with a magnetic closure to reveals the 3 palettes and 1 deluxe size Better Than Sex Mascara inside.

The 3 different palettes all have a good variety.  One is girly and sweet (Paris in Love). One is a very neutral toned palette (Paris au Naturale). And one is more of a dramatic, nighttime palette (Paris After Dark).  All of the shadows in this set are really really nice. The mattes are buttery and pigmented, and the metallics and shimmers have a really nice texture as well.  The blending shades included are downright perfect. The only shade I'd say is a semi dud is Tres Chic. It doesn't have ton of pigmentation, but instead is a slightly patchy deep purple with shimmer inside. But I'd say that one not-so-impressive shade in the whole set is pretty stinkin' good!

So be still my adorable-packaging-loving, eyeshadow-obsessed heart. This set is one of my favorites in my whole collection now! Love love!

Too Faced Melted Kisses & Sweet Cheeks Set: Swatches & Review

All of these Too Faced Holiday sets suck me in! I've really been wanting to try more of their Love Flush Blush shades, and this set includes 3 mini sized ones. So I jumped on it!

This set retails for $36 and can be purchased from Sephora or Too Faced's website. The set includes 3 mini sized Love Flush Blushes in Your Love is King, Justify My Love, and Love Hangover. These are each 2 grams each. (A full sized Love Flush Blush is 6 grams.) Then you also receive 3 coordinating mini sized Melted Liquified Liquid Lipsticks in the shades Melted Fig, Melted Peony, and Melted Nude. These are each 5 mL each. (A full size is 12 mL.)

When I first opened this set, first off, I thought the packaging was adorable, but then I thought, "Woah, those blushes are little!!" But after comparing them with some of my other mini sized blushes from Tarte's previous Holiday sets (which were either 3.03 grams or 1.5 grams), they're actually a good amount of product! The packaging is just tinier than the Tarte ones. And all of the shades are really beautiful and swatch really nicely.

The Melteds are also really cute and nice shades. I've had Melted Fig on my wish list for a while now, so I was excited to see that one included!

So overall, I really like this set! While the tiny size of the products is a big deceiving, there's still a good amount of product included (that I'll still probably never finish!) and they're perfect size for travel!

Urban Decay Vice 4 Palette: Swatches & Review

I'm a bit of a collector, so every year when Urban Decay releases another Vice palette, I have to jump on it and get the next one!  The Vice 4 retails for $60 and can be purchased on Urban Decay's website or from Sephora.

Urban Decay Vice 4 Palette

The packaging on this palette is...amazing. I LOVE it! It has a really beautiful pink, purple, blue duochrome look to it with a web design. Even the outside box is pretty.  And it comes with a cute little pouch that says "Beauty with an edge" which matches Urban Decay to-a-T!

The collection of colors in Vice 4 is much like the other Vice palettes. It is just a hodge podge of colors - neutrals, colors, mattes, metallics, shimmers, etc. etc. It's all there! My personal favorite rows are the 2nd and 3rd. Those pinks and greens are amazing!

Urban Decay Vice 4 Palette

Most all of these shadows swatch beautifully! The 3 in the palette that have some issues are Grip, which lacks pigmentation in general, and Low & Crowbar, which have a lot of chunky glitter. But overall, the shadows are beautiful! And they work really nicely on the eyes.  They blend well, build nicely, and wear well throughout the day!

Vice 4 swatches, left to right: Discreet, Grasshopper, C-Note, Arctic, Robbery

Vice 4 swatches, left to right: Bitter, Flame, Low, Crowbar, Delete

So overall, I'm very very pleased with my Vice 4 palette! It's hard to say which one is my favorite of the four, but all in all, I might have to pick this one...and it might be mostly because of that amazing packaging!!

Too Faced Le Grand Palais Holiday 2015 Set: Swatches & Review!

I always get excited when the holidays roll around for many, many reasons. But one of those is for the amazing holiday makeup! I ordered several different sets, so keep an eye out on my blog and YouTube channel for reviews on each of those!  First, I've got a review for you guys on the Le Grand Palais set.

Too Faced Le Grand Palais

This is a Sephora exclusive set, retails for $58, and can be purchased from the Sephora website or in stores.

Starting with the packaging...it's adorable! But it's also super bulky! So if you're thinking in terms of a gift - it's really cute and something very special. It looks like an adorable little present and opens up to reveal a little palace scene, complete with a tiny staircase and shopping bags. Too. Cute. But if you're thinking in terms of practicality and space - you probably won't be a fan of this packaging.

Too Faced Le Grand Palais

Le Grand Palais, in a nutshell, is a very shimmery, very holiday palette. But with that, many of the shades included are pretty chunky in texture, and they take some working with. I would definitely suggest using some kind of glitter glue (I used Too Faced's Glitter Glue), tapping off your brush before application, and dabbing the shadows on versus swiping. All of those little tweakings (technical term there!) should help minimize the fall out and help these shadows perform better.

The look that I've created with this palette did turn out really nice; it just took some extra care to avoid a big glittery mess on my face.

Swatches left to right: White Christmas, Satin Sheets, Vintage Lace

Swatches left to right: Delightful, Moon on Their Wings, Cobblestone, City Lights, Dreamlight

Swatches left to right: String of Lights, Yule Log, Wish List, Arc de Triomphe, Belle Femme

Swatches left to right: Stiletto, Eiffel, Midnight in Paris, Champs Élysées, Party Dress

Swatches left to right: Stardust, Skyline, Flush, Sun Bunny

Overall, if you're looking for a gift for that glittery-makeup-loving person in your life, they might really enjoy this palette because the packaging is adorable and it does include a lot of fun, holiday shades.  But if you're considering this purchase, either for someone else or for yourself, just realize that you're going to have a little extra work involved to use these shadows.

Watch for a review on my YouTube channel tomorrow that'll include more thoughts, swatches, and also comparison swatches between Le Grand Palais and some of the Too Faced holiday palettes from previous years.
